Find a support group across Australia (EnableMe website)
You can search for a support group on the EnableMe website.
Use the search tool to:
- filter by location and region,
- find groups for younger people,
- find groups for people with aphasia.
The directory is regularly updated, but it is a good idea to reach out to the group contact to double check details before you go!
If you need help searching for a group, call StrokeLine.
You can also try:
- asking your doctor about groups in your area,
- finding groups through a local community health centre or neighbourhood house.
Can’t find a group near you?
Most peer support groups are started by survivors of stroke, their family members and carers. Many were inspired to start a group because they couldn’t find one in their area. It’s a big job, but we hear it’s also a rewarding one.
StrokeLine can provide advice on setting up a peer support group.
